Nokia admits it rejected Android
Nokia’s decision to opt for Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 (WP7) platform as its primary smartphone OS, rather than Android, was prompted by a desire to avoid a “duopoly” in the mobile industry between Google/Nokia and Apple, CEO Stephen Elop told reporters at a press conference in Barcelona last night.
Sony Ericsson announces “PlayStation phone”; gets US boost
Sony Ericsson last night unveiled the much-expected Xperia Play – aka the “PlayStation phone” - ahead of its launch next month in selected European and Asian markets. A CDMA version of the new handset will go on sale in the US with Verizon Wireless in the spring, a major boost for Sony Ericsson in the States.
